In 2003, Pete was commissioned to write a multi-cultural Oratorio for a large schools’ project in the East End of London. He chose to tell the story of ‘Babel’ as it occurs in the mythology of Mexican Aztecs, of East Africa and also throughout the Sub-Continent.
After the 'confusion of languages' causes the Tower of Babel to fall, the people sing 'Where to now?' as they wander in search of a new beginning.
"We've a thousand miles to go,
Doesn't anybody know,
Where to Now?"
Performed by the Merton Music Foundation Choir, 2013.
