This was originally part of a narrated Song Cycle called ‘The Journey’ which was commissioned for a massed choir of twelve hundred school children and premiered in London at the Royal Albert Hall in 2007. The piece explored one thousand years of immigration to the U.K. and the music that people brought with them.
This particular song is about the ‘Immigrant’, the wanderer, the outcast.
"Don't turn away,
It might be you someday"
